Dr. S.Venkat Rao Profile: An eminent Scientist in organic synthesis and
he is having about two decades of industrial research exposure with 10
patents and 25 Research papers. He is reviewer for few reputed journals.
He developed more than 150 new chemical entities which are more
potential bioactive active molecular compounds. He worked in several
reputed pharmaceutical & chemical companies. He received a national
level Special Mention Scientist Award form Educational expo TV
awards in 2017.
Dr.D.Ramachandran Profile: He is an eminent professor in Chemistry,
Department of Chemistry, Acharya Nagarjuna University. He is having
two decades of Teaching & Research experience with evidence of more
than 120 Research papers and two patents in his credit. He is currently
acting as a Coordinator, AP HLC Admissions at ANU campus and DST
FIST Level-1 program. He was guided 17 Ph.D. and 15 M.Phil. students
who got awarded their degrees, and written some academic books and
book chapters for ANU academics. He received two national awards
during 2015 and 2017 from Venus International foundation, Chennai and Global management
Nikolaou, K.C defined organic synthesis in his book of classics in total synthesis as “If
the chemistry is the science of matter of its transformations, Synthetic chemistry is the
science of constructing molecules from atoms and /or molecules” the discipline may be
divided according to the molecules involved into Synthetic organic Chemistry and
Synthetic Inorganic chemistry.
“The Intentional construction of molecules by means of chemical reactions” is also
known as organic synthesis The ultimate goal of Organic Synthesis is to assemble a given
organic compound (target molecule) from readily available starting materials and
reagents in the most efficient way. This process usually begins with the design of a
synthetic plan (strategy) which calls upon various synthetic reactions to address
individual synthetic objectives in a certain sequence. If a transformation or a strategic
maneuver required by the synthetic plan has to be demonstrated before, the plan must rely
on the development of a suitable synthetic method or tactic to solve the particular
problem at hand. Thus, the science of organic synthesis is constantly enriched by new
inventions and discoveries pursued deliberately for their own sake or as sub goals within
a program directed towards the the synthesis of a target molecule.
In summary, Organic synthesis deals with the construction of any organic structure.
Projects only must take into account industrial or lab scale and time, technical or
economical limitations. In any case, the synthetic process should be simple, high
yielding, cheap and …preferably in a single step.
